Our work team comprises engineers and computational linguists with advanced training and broad experience in the field of language technologies and artificial intelligence. Most of us have Master’s degrees in Language Analysis and Processing and 6 members of the work team have PhDs.

He has a degree in Business Humanities (University of Deusto, 2000) and a Master’s in Management Development and Leadership (University of Deusto, 2000); he is currently doing a Master’s in Social Economy and Solidarity-based Organisation Management (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country). Right now, he heads the Language and Technology business unit at Elhuyar and previous to that was the manager of its Language Services.

Xabier Saralegi Urizar

He is currently Head of the Text Mining area at Elhuyar. Previous to that he did research work in Elhuyar’s language processing area.

She has a degree in German Philology (University of Salamanca, 2000) and a Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2006). She currently heads the Language Resources and Tools area at Elhuyar. Previously (2002-2008) she worked in the Ixa research group at the UPV/EHU.

He has a diploma in Technical Computer Engineering (Mondragon University, 1993), a degree in computing (Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, 1994) and a degree in Electronic Systems Engineering (Mondragon University, 1996). He has a Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2009) and a PhD in Language Technologies (UPV/EHU, 2014). Right now, he heads the Speech Technology area at Elhuyar. Previous to that he did research in Elhuyar’s language processing area. And before that, he worked as an assistant researcher at Ikerlan, as the technical manager at SOME Software Innovation, and as head of ICT at EMUN.
Iker Manterola Isasa

He is a computer engineer (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country). He has a Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU). He currently works in the Language and Technology Unit at Elhuyar in the line of language resources and tools service.
Antton Gurrutxaga Hernaiz

He has a degree in Chemistry (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 1980). He has a Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU, 2007) and a PhD in Computing (2014). Right now, he is head of some of the lexicographical and technical dictionaries and does research in the area of language resources and tools. Previously he was head of Language Services and R&D at Elhuyar. He is an associate member of the Euskaltzaindia-Royal Academy of the Basque Language (2013).
Mari Susperregi Indakoetxea

She has a degree in Computing (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 1998), and is doing a Master’s in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU). She works as a developer in Elhuyar’s Language and Technology unit.
Zuhaitz Beloki Leiza

He is a computer engineer (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2011). He has a Master’s in the doctorate programme on Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU, 2012) and a PhD thesis (UPV/EHU, 2017). Since 2016 he has been working at Elhuyar in the Language and Technology unit. Previous to that, he worked in the Ixa group at the UPV/EHU in research into language processing.

He has a degree in Computer Engineering (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2007), Msc. in Language Analysis and Processing (UPV/EHU, 2012) and PhD in Computer Engineering (UPV/EHU, 2019). Right now, he does research in the Text Mining area at Elhuyar. Previous to that, he worked in the area of language processing at Elhuyar and at the UPV/EHU.

Ixiar Iza Agirre

She has a Higher Degree in Industrial Engineering (University of Navarre, 1995). Since 2007 she has been working in the Translation Service and in the Translation Technology area at Elhuyar. She lectured in Localisation in the post-graduate Translation and Technology course (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country) during the 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 academic years.
Eli Pociello Irigoien

She has degrees in English Philology (University of Deusto, 1998) and in Basque Philology (University of Deusto, 2000) and a PhD in Basque Philology (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2008). She has been working at Elhuyar since 2007 in the Language and Technology unit, initially as a researcher in the language processing area and currently as a technician in the lexicography area.
Amaia Astobiza Uriarte

She has a Translation and Interpreting degree (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2006), a Master’s in Terminology (Pompeu Fabra, 2007) and a Master’s in Gender Equality (UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, 2017). She has been working at Elhuyar since 1999 in various areas and units: lexicography, translation and consulting, among others. She is currently a technician in the area of dictionaries and corpora.
Saroi Jauregi Aiestaran

She has a degree in Basque Philology (University of Deusto, 2000), and a Master’s Qualification for Teachers of Languages (UPV/EHU, 2016). Since 2002 she has been working at Elhuyar in the Language and Technology unit. Right now, she is head of the language quality work group at Elhuyar and is the communications officer of the Language and Technology Unit.
